Grad School Girls

My good friend from grad school Cristina and her family came into town for the holiday. It has been about three years since I saw her last. The last time was when I saw her daughter Isabel when she was a couple of months old. So, we got together at Lindsay's house. It was a lot of fun and the kids enjoyed playing with each other and it was nice to catch up with old friends and be able to talk social work ends and outs with each other.

From left to right: Nash, Me, Lindsay, Amy, Cristina, Hanah (Lindsay's daughter), and Isabel (Cristina's daughter).

The kids enjoyed the swing. The funniest thing was Hanah falling asleep while swinging and had to be taken in for a nap because she didn't get one earlier that day. Nash loved the swing and conquered the slide. He was able to climb up the latter all by himself for the first time.

A Fun Day at Fun Land

Today, we went to Fun Land for my sweet little cousin Ali's 4th birthday party. Here's the birthday girl as we are singing happy birthday to her.
My aunt made her carousel cake. Isn't it awesome! It even spins.

On the way over there I told Nash we are going to go to Ali's birthday party and ride some rides. He stated "ride some rides some rides". I said "yes we are going to ride some rides" and ride some rides we did. Nash loved it. He and his cousin Gracie rode all the rides together.

Nash liked all the rides and wasn't scared at all. Well all but this one. Nash's face looked like this most of this roller coaster ride. It went a little faster than he or I expected. He liked it though and clapped when he got off . (or maybe he was clapping because he got off. who knows.)

Pool Play Date

Nash's friend Nate came over today for a play date. The boys had a great time playing in the back yard. Here are some pictures from the day.

Nash and Nate enjoying some popsicles. Nash calls them suckers.

Nate LOVES Nash's lawn "mowa".

The lawn mower was the hot toy item and had to be handled by taking turns but the boys did pretty good with that.

Today was the first time Nash got in the pool for any length of time. What was the motivation you might ask?................. Pool basketball of course.

Fun in the Sun

Today I had the bright idea of breaking out the new family pool that I got for Nash and I or whoever to play in. Also I wanted to get some sun and it was a good day for it. Nash didn't too much care for the pool but did have fun doing other things such as..
eating a popsicle

coloring

with side walk chalk

bating the bubbles

trying to eat the bubbles

catching a bubble

YAY BASEBALL!

We went to the a baseball game today because Chris's friend is a coach of the Springdale Harbor baseball team and they played today in the state championship against Van Buren. Nash was very excited to go to the "geme".
He kept saying "Yay Baseball!".
You might ask, what was he so excited about? Oh just the guy pitching the ball. That's it. Not anyone hitting ball or scoring. Just a basic ball or strike pitch. After every pitch he would make this face (don't know what is up with his tongue sticking out), clap his hands and say "YAY BASEBALL!" It was too funny and super cute. He had every one's attention around us.

As you can tell, he had a great time but the game started at noon which is pretty close to his nap time so we only stayed for about an hour. I knew it was time to go when Nash started asking for his blankie and pass and asking to go "night night".

He was out on the way home.
A side note: Nash and I went to the concession stand to get a hot dog for him and me a coke. He kept saying "Mommy's coke". The guy at the concession stand said "You're his mom?". I said proudly "yes". He said "I thought you were his big sister". I was shocked and responded with "how old do you think I am?". He said, "19". Wow. 19. I told him I will be 29 in a couple of months. He was amazed.

Tomatoes

So after talking to Brooke about some much need tomato advice, I took her advice and separated some of my tomato plants and put them in individual pots. I am excited about this little project and hope it works out well. I thought it would be a fun thing for Nash and I to do together.

Nash enjoyed it too.
He loved filling up the pots with dirt. I would scoop it up and let him dump it in each pot.

Nash was such a good helper. He kept saying "I help momma, I help".

We ended up with seven tomato plants. Once they start getting bigger, I plan on giving several of them a way. I also kept the tin with all the plants in them in case one of the new ones don't work out. Thanks again Brooke for you tips! I will keep you posted on how they turn out.

Nash enjoyed driving his car in the left over dirt that was split.

Mother's Day

I had a pretty good Mother's Day. We went to church, ate with Chris's Mom and Dad afterwards, and then later that day we had my mom and brother and sister-in-law and neice and nephew over for dinner. A busy but good day other than Chris not feeling well. Last year Nash was sick. So, so far both of my Mother's Days someone was sick. (last year Nash threw up Mother's Day morning). Here are some pictures from the day.

Nash with his cousins eating at the kids' table.
Nash and I before church.
my gift: a watch I wanted and a home made card.

The following was the absolute high light of my Mother's Day. See the adorable little boy in the front left with a white polo on clapping. That's my sweet little guy's first singing appearance at church. I was kind of surprised by this because he is up there with his Sunday School class. He is supposed to start this class when he is 2 but has been in it since he was 18 months because he does much better in there. They have sang in front of the church before but normally he doesn't participate because he is so young. He got up there today and danced and clapped and tried to sing the songs. It was absolutely ADORABLE. I fought back tears the whole time. I was one proud momma.

(Picture was taken with Chris's Iphone because I was not expecting it but glad I got a picture of it.)

Chris turns the BIG 3 0 today

To celebrate we had dinner with his parents at their house. Chris's request were chicken spaghetti, green bean casserole, and strawberry cake from the cake lady.

Nash cheeses it up as Poppy was making him laugh (with birthday cake in his mouth).

Nash liked playing with the balloons the best.

Chris has had quite the last couple months. First getting his new FJ Cruiser which he loves and says he will never want another vehicle. Then getting to go see the White Sox play in Chicago. Last week, he was voted in by the school board as the new head basketball coach. All a good way to bring in the next decade of his life. He deserves every bit of it.
Even though he does not read my blog, I love you babe and glad you had a happy birthday!
