a little bit of everything.

Last week I got a new book that I have been enjoying. I went to Mardel's because I had finished my Beth Moore study on Esther (which was great by the way). I had planned on getting another study of her's because she's pretty awesome but I stumbled upon a book called Love and War by John and Stasi Eldridge. It was Valentine's weekend so I guess this book was one that they were advertising and was on sale so I thought I would get it. I love it. This husband and wife are writing about their marriage and from a very honest point of view (the good, the bad, the ugly) and no subject is unexplored. His flaws, her flaws, his background, her background, and how all of this collides in marriage. They talk about how hard marriage really is but how working on our marriage makes us the people we were meant to be. I am really enjoying it and going to try and get Chris to read it next. He likes to read but more Sci-Fi, Stephen King stuff. However, the way this book is written is very conversational, funny, fun to read, and from both husband and wife's perspectives so I think he will like it.
On another note, Chris and I are planning a little get away for ourselves. We are going to watch the Chicago White Sox play opening day in Chicago. Chris loves the White Sox and has gone to several baseball games but has never gone to one in Chicago and I not sure if he has seen the White Sox play in person. So we are going.
We have always talked about going and have always wanted to but for some reason never have. He casually brought it up one night that he would like to go. He knows I am a complete tight wad and do not like to spend money unnecessarily and was completely shocked when I said "okay let's go". Of course, he completely underestimates how much this will cost (like by half). He does this all the time. I don't know if it is to get me to say yes to things or if he really isn't good that at estimating the cost of trips and things. One of the reasons I said yes is that we have always wanted to go and I thought "Why not. It will be fun'". Two, Chris goes on tons of trips with school, basketball, a trip with his friend every year, church softball, and normally it drives me crazy because I don't ever do anything like that. So this sounded like a fun thing we could do together. I still have a knot in my stomach about spending X amount of dollars on a trip but trying not to think about it and just go with the flow. (I too am hoping for a decent tax return that will fund the trip)
Also, I am loving this beautiful weather and sunny days we have had lately. The spring and summer make me happy. I am clearly in a better mood on days like that instead of cold dreary days. I feel like I have more energy and want to go and do and be outside (and get a tan). Today we had a great play date with Nate, Kat, Somer, and Bauer. I love my Fridays with my little man. I wish I could be home with him more so I really like to soak up my time with him and do something fun. This was a picture from today at the Arkansas Game and Fish place. The boys had a great time as always.

Remember my past post about my hair issues. Well, they had gotten better when my mother-in-law talked to her hair person who suggested super straight by pureology and it really did help a lot. It made it possible for me not to get a hair cut so soon. I did however get my hair cut today and did foil in some low lights. Which I am still waiting to see what it looks like because after she cut my hair I had to get out of there. I started feeling ill really quick. Hot all over, sick at my stomach and like I was going to faint. My hair dresser even noticed it and was concerned. She felt the heat coming off of me. Don't know what it is but hoping it goes away soon. It seems like I haven't felt well for any real length of time. (do you think it could be some reaction to the chemicals? I don't know)
So those are some of the things going on in my world. There are more but I think you have had enough of the multisubject post so that is all for now.
Good Day Sir. I said Good Day!

My Little Valentine

Here's my sweet little Valentine.
Here is the sweet Valentine gift he made me. (a picture frame with these sweet chubby little handprints in clay on the side).
Here's the Valentine that he made.

Nash has had a good Valentine's weekend complete with two play dates (story time at the library and river market with Nate and then Ihop and Chuck E Cheese with Braydi) and lots of little Valentine's gifts.

20 months old

Nash is 20 months old today. We will be planning his 2nd birthday before you know it. Nash is a lot of fun. One of his favorite things to do at the moment is play with his blocks. He likes to build the tower as high as he can and then knock it over. I has been a good tool to teach him his colors. He knows red, blue, geen (as he calls it), yellow and black. Blue is by far is favorite. He still likes balls and trucks. He has been talking like crazy and can in his own way carry on a conversation with you. He does speak in sentences which is crazy but most of the time he puts a couple words together like daddy's truck, my momma, ch e cheese Nate, etc. He likes to "draw". He has a magna doodle that he uses for that but is known to find a pen or pencil and write on things he is not supposed to. He likes to sing songs and is starting to remember parts of songs and sing them on cue. He has "la la la la la la Melmo's World" down and others. He is cutting a lot of teeth right now but is sleeping pretty good with the help of Motrin at bed time. His hair is getting really long and curly. A lot of the time he has crazy hair. I know at some point I am going to have to cut it but I am not ready for that yet and think their will be tears shed when it happens. He has an Elmo potty. He will sit on it with clothes on and say "pee pee" he hasn't really liked sitting on it without clothes on. He also for some weird reason likes to knock things over, mainly his basketball goal. He will push it over and say "goal fall down". He also likes to knock over his rocking chair and kangaroo. I'm not liking that so much as I have to constantly pick those things up. Speaking of picking things up. My house is a mess most of the times because he likes to get out all his toys and stroll them everywhere. He will pick them up and does good with that but like his blocks and balls as soon as he picks them up he thinks it is so much fun to spill them out everywhere again. He has recently started to like Barney. Normally he goes between Word World and Elmo as in it's either all Elmo or all Word World. Currently we are back on Word World but Barney is a close second compared to Elmo and Word World. It's the singing and dancing on there as he LOVES to do both. He varies up his dancing styles and picks up on what the kids are doing on the show. It is quite funny to watch. Chris has DJ hero and Nash loves to sing and dance a long to it. I have it videoed him dancing to "Ice Ice Baby" and "B A N A N A S" but can't get my video to load on the lap top. You have to trust me on this one. It's too cute. Nash also likes hats, especially his yellow fireman hat that he got from Lane's party. He likes to wear it backwards and push his popper around like it's his job. Often he wants to take it along with us in the car. The boys favorite place in the world right now is Chuck E Cheese. He talks about it literaly every day. Usually it has Nate's name attached to it. I think he associates the two even though he's been their several times without him. Nash is trying to learn letters. Right now most letters are T. Even though he will repeat the correct letter when you tell him what it is.
Happy 20 Months Nash Rivers.

More Snow!!!

So we got more snow today and this time we actually got SNOW not ice/sleet with a little snow. It is somewhere from 2-4 inches here. Nash and I got out early in it. This kid loves the snow and would probably stay out in it if it weren't so cold and him getting somewhat wet. Next year I am going to invest in a snow suit. Today I layered him more than before and we were able to stay out for a while. Here's some pics from this morning.
it was only a few inches but that was a lot for this little guy.

He LOVED it.

especially digging in the snow

and banging his hands together to get the snow off his gloves

our little snowman

oh I wish I was one of those people that look good without make up but I wanted to get a picture of me and my little man in the snow and this was the best one.
