Christmas 2010

What to say about this Christmas??? Well, it was a busy one like always. Thurdsay, I had my dad's side of the family over at my house for supper. Christmas Eve morning we went to my mom's. That afternoon and night we went to both Chris's grandparents.  That night we exchanged gifts. Chris and I didn't get each other much because we got our matress a few months ago that was supposed to be our Christmas present. However we both liked what we got each other. Christmas we saw what Santa brought Nash. Then we went to Mimi's and Poppy's and that night went to my grandmother's.
Christmas Eve night was the most interesting and fun for us. This was the first year that Nash really got into Christmas. He has been wanting a "big ol Thomas" (train table). Chris had put it completely together upstairs and as he and I were playing Santa we realized we had to take it apart to get it downstairs to just put it back together. It was funny as we were trying to be quiet and dropping pieces and laughing quietly to ourselves. We did make a smart move and had Nash sleep in our bed so that we could kind of contain him as most nights here lately due to his snotty nose he has been ending up in our bed anyways. So we just set up the table in his room since we knew if we didn't we would have to take it apart once again to just put it back together. So it all worked out and Nash woke up in the morning. I woke Chris up and took Nash to potty and I said "you want to go see what Santa left you?" and he said "oh yeah" like he had forgotten. It was funny. He was so excited this year and really got into opening his presents and loved the different things he got.
Another funny story this Christmas is about one of his Santa gifts. Nash has been to Toys R Us several times and saw the Fisher Price Big Foot Monster. He has been so scared of it because at the store he is in the cage and bangs on the cage. However, he has still been very interested in it. At home he saw it on the an advertisement and started watching videos of it on the computer. So one night Chris asks (thinking that Nash was still afraid of it) "do you want me to go to the store and get a Big Foot for you to have at our house?" and Nash says "YES!!!" I thought "oh great" and hoped he would forget about it.  Well the next morning the first thing out of his mouth was "daddy's going to the store and getting me a big foot monster for my house". Yep. So he got another gift from Santa and LOVES it!

(By the way I am horrible at the whole Santa thing and think Nash will probably find out at an early age the truth about Santa (which is fine with me) because numerous times I made unintentional comments that totally would have given it away if he were paying attention or old enough to understand.)

Here are some pictures from our Christmas.

Nash got at ton of Thomas trains for his train table.

Christmas Program + Trains = A Good Day.

Nash had his Christmas program at school today. His group sang jingle bells and had little jingle bells that they rang during the song. Nash did a good job and sang and rang his bell the whole time. There was a little blooper when the kid in front of him got a little carried away ringing his bell and hit Nash in the face but Nash quickly got over it and kept singing.

(Nash was grumpy today so I was glad we at least got this)

After lunch and Nash's nap we meet up with our friends Kat and Nate to go see the big train exhibit at the library. The boys LOVED it. I was afriad we weren't going to be able to leave. However, due to a smoking train and the conductor stopping them for a bit we convinced the boys that the trains were sleeping and needed to rest so we went and played in the children's part of the library which was a lot of fun as well.

(The boys were right at eye level with the trains and thought it was amazing.)

Other reasons it was a good day include having the day off, my morning Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha half caf and banana chocolate chip coffee cake, getting a couple more Christmas presents taken care of, taking a wonderful nap with the boy, getting my Christmas cards mailed, having my husband bring home supper, and getting my house cleaned. Yep, it was a good day.

Santa trip fail

Today I got Nash dressed up to take some Christmas pictures at the house and the Old Mill which didn't go great but was okay and I got a few good ones. Then we went to the mall to see Santa. I wasn't going to take Nash this year because just like last year, execpt this year he can verbalize it, Nash says "I not like Santa. He's scarey". However Thursday after school he came home saying he wants to go see Santa, sit on his lap, take a picture, and tell him to bring him "presents". He has insisted several times that we go see Santa. In fact one day he swore Santa was down the street and we needed to go walk to find him. So we went. The whole time he was saying. "Where's Santa Momma? I love him." Well he saw Santa and clamed up again and held on to me for dear life and returned to the mindset of "I not like Santa".
However there was this super cool jump thing next to Santa that Nash insisted that he wanted to go do. I thought you won't go sit and talk to a friendly old man but you want to be strapped in and jump up high in the middle of a store. Whatever. I thought well that looks fun and at least it won't be a wasted trip. Well, this is what he does when he gets strapped in.

However, I made him do it. I knew he would like it once he started jumping. It was just all the strappy things that bothered him.
And he didn't love it but liked it okay and was excited when he started going up high. However at times he changed his mind and wanted out. What can I say. He is indecisive like his mother. Lord help him.

He did however LOVE this cool little ride on car that he rode a couple of times. I think he would love to have one of these at home that he could rid on all the time.

A Happy Thanksgiving Week

Yes, I said Thanksgiving week. It was glorious! (other than starting the week off not feeling well) One of the perks of my new job is a week off at Thanksgiving and to think in a few weeks I will get two weeks off for Christmas. I am excited about the thought of that too.
The major accomplishment for Nash this week was pooping in the potty. Yep, he's done it the last three times with much coaxing at times but still did it and is really proud of himself afterwards.  He's done great with peeing in the potty for weeks. So it feels like we are in the home stretch of potty training. Very exciting!

I spent this week doing lots of stuff like watching ball games, spending time with family, taking naps, walks (lots of morning walks with the boy in our pj's), Chuck E Cheese, visiting the pond by our house, some cooking, 3 Thanksgiving get together, some reading, some Christmas shopping, even wrapping some presents, and decorating for Christmas. I didn't take many pictures. Here are a couple that I did take. (Disclaimer: Nash prefers to sit around the house in his underwear now that he is potty training/trained).
Nash was so excited to get the tree out and up. When he saw it come out of the box he said "it's beautiful mommy". He was very excited to help put it up.
Even more excited to have his new train that goes around the bottom. (I think Chris was just as excited) This is definitely something that Nash rather have his daddy play with him with. I hope everyone else had a Happy Thanksgiving week as well.

Nash's Thanksgiving Program

Today was Nash's Thanksgiving program at Mother's Day Out. His class joined the older classes in singing songs and saying a Thanksgiving prayer. Nash did great and sang every song and did all the motions.

All and all a fun time. Nash probably shouldn't have ate a chocolate chip cookie and a piece a chocolate chip cake because he still hasn't gone to sleep.

So we have started potty training.....

The above has only happened one time (Nash sitting on potty while watching Thomas on his portable dvd player) but I thought the picture was fitting to the post so I included it.

Nash has had a ongoing yeast/diaper infection ever since his antibiotics from his sinus and ear infection back in the end of September. We have gone through 5 different cremes and on our second oral medication. The infection is the catalyst to our potty training. The doctor said it might be good for Nash to wear some underwear to air out. So I took him to "all-mart" as he calls it and we got Thomas the Train underwear and Lighting McQueen underwear. After he wet in them the first couple of times and realized he needed to keep them dry, he has been doing pretty awesome with potty training. One morning last week he decided that he wanted to wear his big boy underwear to school. He did and kept them dry all day. He has since had a couple accidents here and there but on the whole has done pretty amazing and I have been shocked how well he has done as I am with most new things he does. I don't know if he is just that good or I am just that anxious about how it is going to go. The main problem area we are running into is him pooping in the potty. I guess that is a little harder to time than peeing in the potty in which we take him every hour or so and he just goes. We are off to a great start and I am hoping to be diaper free very soon!

Happy Halloween

We had a fabulous Halloween night. First we went to the fall fest at Chris's school.
Nash ran into his buddy "Koa" who was also Thomas for Halloween. They had the best time and were excited to see each other.
They even had a train there that Nash played in.
Afterwards, we went home and took Nash on his first real trick or treat. He loved it.
Some memorable moments were when I asked him what he was supposed to say and he said "ding dong" meaning ringing the door bell. He was confused. I was a big day for him and a lot to remember. Another time, a lady opened the door and he said "I want two please".  He also wanted to carry his candy with him instead of put it in his Thomas basket.

While we were out we ran into our neighbor's. Nash's buddy Bryce and his sister Kylee. They went to a house together.
At home checking out what all he got.
I loved taking him trick or treating. It was a lot of fun. This is really his first year to get to do that and he loved it.
