Before we went I was contemplating whether or not this would be a good idea with my little one and after some convincing by my sister-in-law (on the trip nicknamed Ms. Branson) I decided to go. My sister-in-law got her nickname because she has probably been to Branson 10 times in the last 10 years and the last time I went was roughly 10 years ago so she knew it like the back of her hand. So we decided that we would work around the kids schedules and be as flexible as possible. I myself am not a Branson person which was part of my hesitation about going. I like to shop some in the outlets and look at Christmas lights. Not big on the shows and all that. With a 17 month old, I was more concerned how everything would go and rightfully so for several reasons.
1. my kid ran across the hotel parking lot about 100 yards with me running right behind him because he saw a dog on the other side.
2. my kid threw horrible fits at the restaurants. I am talking throwing everything he can get his hands on across the table, screaming, etc.
3. my kid is a horrible shopper and will not stay in his stroller if it is not constantly moving and even then still wants out and run throughout the store aimlessly.
4. my kid threw some major fits in the Titanic museum and had to be contained
5. my kid fell off the hotel bed onto the floor at 2:30am
With all that said, we still had a good time because
1. I got to shop for me and finished up some Christmas shopping while my mom watched my kid in the hotel room
2. my kid thoroughly enjoyed the Dixie Stampede, watching the animals in the show, and waving his flag.
3. my kid had a great time playing with his cousin
4. even though my kid threw some major fits we all recognized that it was his age and the fact that he only took a 45 min nap all day rather than a 2 hour nap and we all love my kid enough to deal with and even laugh at it at times.
5. my kid loved the lights, espeically the flashing ones at the resturant

random things
-Now that I am on face book,I find I am blogging less. I like and don't like face book. I like being able to keep in touch with people I wouldn't otherwise and that it is so easy to get on to the ap on my phone and check (probably wouldn't do it if that weren't the case) and to do the random status updates. I don't like that some people spend way too much time on there and update their status when they wake up, eat lunch, go to the bathroom, lay on the couch, whatever. It gets a little ridiculous. I also hate when people put super vague statements like "I was just thinking..." or "feelling a little.." to let everyone guess or comment on. Also, I think some of my old high school friends need therapists. My goodness.... I don't want to hear every bad thing someone did to you or what you are mad about today or every time you feel like you need to vent. I have my share of that by profession.
-I am officially a coach's widow again. I guess it started last week at Chris's first game. I am excited for him because he is head coach of the Jr. Boys and has a 2 and 0 record. I also like that the Jr. Boys game is usually early so we can watch it and go. We normally don't make it to the senor game. I don't like that he is gone a lot to away games or scouting, or games period. So, until about February or so this is going to be how it is. I should be used to it by now. I guess at least I got my little man to hang out with. Nash also really likes the games so when we do get to go it is something fun for him to do. He says "ball" "ball" pretty much the whole time and all of Chris's students and basketball players love him and give him high fives and play with him. His first game Nash stood behind his dad on the bench and kept saying "da da" "da da". I thought it was very sweet. Of course Chris could not hear him in the loud gym but Chris liked that he was there and showed him off.
-So Halloween is this weekend and Nash is going to be Yoda. Yep Yoda. I think it will be cute. (hope he keeps the head piece on) It was more Chris's idea and since I insisted on a monkey last year. I didn't argue too much this year about him being Yoda. Now I kind of wished he would have been a dog or Elmo because his new thing is going around barking like a dog and now he says "Melmo" when he sees Elmo. Oh well, master of the universe he will be and a cute one at that.
-Chris and I have started going back to Sunday School. When I was pregnant with Nash and even before we started this one class and really liked it but after Nash it has been hard to get back into that routine for several reasons but here we are and I am enjoying it. In fact today, Nash stayed in the Children's Church during Sunday School and Church. When I peeped in the window to come get him I teared up a bit. He was sitting at the table with all the big kids coloring and looked so big.
-Nash is feeling a lot better and has done real well with his bout of pneumonia. He still has to be on the anti-biotic until this Thursday but he is showing no signs of not feeling well. This anti-biotic is awful though. It taste nasty and Nash hates it. It also makes his wet and dirty diapers smell awful. I will and I know he will be glad when he is off of it. We have a follow up appointment in a couple of weeks for her to check him and make sure it is gone.
So there's that. I guess that is all the random things that have been going on with us.

a sucker does wonders
So, this morning Nash wakes up with 102 fever and runs fever all day even with Motrin. I didn't really know what to think and didn't want to rush him to the doctor for him to get something else there. So I called and left a message for the nurse which turned out would be the only thing I could do because they were booked solid today and tomorrow. The nurse called me back and said that I needed to bring Nash in today. They were working him in because she was afraid he might have pneumonia since he just got over his viral infection and started get that sick so quickly. It scared me to say the least. We went to the doctor and they put him through the ringer; temp, weight, flu swab, chest x-rays, probing by the doctor, etc. Turns out he does have pneumonia. They had to give him a shot which he did real well with but he was SO ready to go. He kept pointing at the door and crying. We had to wait another 15 mins to wait and see if he had an allergic reaction to the shot. He had been crying for a good 30 mins to an hour previously just feeling bad and ready to stop being poked on and go home. Dr. Miers saw us in the hall and said "I normally don't give kids his age suckers but can he have one?" So at that point I said "whatever works". He tasted it and said "ummm" and kept licking it and smacking his lips. It was the happiest I had seen him all day. He actually got excited over it. His first sucker came at a good time.
He is not real fussy just wants to be held and be close to his momma. God love him. He has had it rough lately. I am so thankful that the nurse had us go ahead and come in. It could have gotten so much worse if it would have continued without being treated.

Carving Our Pumpkin
A family affair. ( I promise I did help. I was just the one behind the camera). Nash did not have much to do with it. He just kind of watched us. (other than the first picture when he was trying to pick up the pumpkin calling it a "ball"). Sadie was licking the pumpkin and trying to eat the insides of it.
